One of Larissa’s aspirations is to create thoughtful written content. She specializes in fiction and content writing. Larissa graduated from the University of Victoria with a double BA in Creative Writing and Sociology and from UBC with an MFA in Creative Writing. She also received a Digital Marketing certificate from North Island College.

For over two years, she worked for WorthPoint as a content writer. She also wrote content for Passion Passport, Well+Good, and the Martlet. Larissa has beta read contest submissions for PRISM International magazine and is currently a grant writer on the Cowichan Women Against Violence Society’s engagement team.

She taught English at Stadtteilschule Blankenese for six months, so she is ready and excited to work with ESL clients. To extend, at both UVic and UBCO, she gained professional experience as a Teaching Assistant, Tutor, and Bookclub Assistant.

She is also the Co-Founder and an Editor for Canada’s first Queer Audio Lit Magazine: Eavesdrop Literary Magazine.

As with any freelancer, some topics are more natural for Larissa to create or consult. Topics familiar to her (including, but not limited to, queer history and culture, sports, human welfare, pop culture, woodworking, and web design) will require less research and, thus, less time overall, which reduces costs. Each project is assessed with the client and a fixed price is agreed upon before the project commences.

There are four services for clients to consider. Read the following to see which option is best suited to your project:

Proofreading

This option is for clients who want a second set of eyes on their work to catch any grammar or technical errors. Proofreading and, if desired, light editing are done on polished pieces. 350-500 words of feedback can also be included.

Editing

This option is for clients who may need more help with format and structure. Line edits and suggestions are provided. The editing style is flexible based on client needs. Entire “free-range” editing of a document is also possible. The service includes one revision.

Content Writing

This option is for clients who want original content for their websites, magazines, or anything, really. Larissa is open to writing about most topics, so please inquire using the site’s contact form or email listed below.

Consultation

Ghostwriting is an option as well as direct guidance along the creative process. Larissa is less interested in ghostwriting but will consider it for the right project. Consultation is more for those who want to learn how to write better or desire assistance in shaping their own content/story, such as dialogue, plot, character development, structure, and anything in between. Consultation is not just for narrative stories, either! Larissa offers services in other areas, like content writing and pitching. The speed of a consultation varies greatly depending on what the client needs.

All options can be done virtually through email, phone, or Zoom. If feasible, in-person meetings are also an option. Whatever the client prefers can be arranged. Please use the contact form on the website or contact Larissa directly at larissa@larissapiva.ca to discuss your project vision.
